Inspirational Art Quote of the Day

"Art is the stored honey of the human soul, gathered on wings of misery and travail."
Theodore Dreiser
(Theodore Herman Albert Dreiser (1871-1945) was an American author of the naturalist school, known for dealing with the gritty reality of life.)

This quote might be a tad bit heavy, but I dig it.
It speaks of the ineffable differences between student and more mature work...

Lucian Freud

This is a really characterized painting. I can see a story in his face along with a scary past. I love the different shades of brown and the lines in his face. He reminds me of someone who has lived a long and painful life, but at the same time, was prosperous.

Lucian Freud is possibly the best living painter in the world.
A biography and some more examples of his work can be found in the artchive (it's in the links section)
fun fact: Lucian is the grandson of Sigmund Freud.
